Professor Dr. Shaikh Aftab Anwar, a distinguished educationist, researcher, and transformational leader, holds an M.Com, MBA, and Ph.D. in Business Administration. With a career spanning over three decades, he has made significant contributions to education, social entrepreneurship, and youth development.

Academic Leadership:

Dr. Shaikh served as Principal of Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune, and has over 15 years of administrative experience. He was also the Director of Poona Institute of Management Sciences and Entrepreneurship, gaining invaluable insights into management education. Under his leadership, Poona College achieved an A+ accreditation from NAAC with a 3.27 CGPA during its 3rd cycle of assessment.

Contributions to Higher Education:

Dr. Shaikh has actively participated in shaping the academic landscape. He was elected Chairman of the Board of Studies in Marketing under the Faculty of Commerce and Management at Savitribai Phule Pune University and served as a member of the university & Academic Council. Additionally, he was appointed to the Senate of the University of Pune by the Governor of Maharashtra, reflecting his significant influence in educational governance. He has been part of numerous boards and committees, furthering academic excellence and innovation.

Research and Scholarly Achievements:

A recognized Ph.D. guide at Savitribai Phule Pune University, Dr. Shaikh has successfully mentored 35 Ph.D. scholars and 16 M.Phil scholars. His Ph.D. thesis, "Designing a Systems Approach to Human Resource Management in the Cooperative Federations in Maharashtra" received accolades, including the "Best Ph.D. Thesis in Cooperative Management" award by the Indian Society for Studies in Cooperation and the prestigious "Rao Bahadur Talmaki Award."

Awards and Recognitions:

Dr. Shaikh’s exceptional work has earned him numerous honors, such as the National Youth Award from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, and the "Prof. G.B. Kulkarni Award for Best Teacher in Commerce" from the University of Pune.

Pioneering Initiatives:

He has been instrumental in launching new academic programs. In the 2020-2021 academic year, under his guidance, Poona College introduced four Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) courses: Software Development, Medical Laboratory Technology, Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management, and Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance, addressing emerging industry demands.

Scholarly Contributions:

Dr. Shaikh has authored numerous books, research papers, and articles in reputed national and international journals. He is a regular presenter at international conferences, enhancing the global academic community with his insights. He has also supported faculty members in publishing books, research papers, and articles in recognized journals, promoting academic growth.

Youth Empowerment and Social Initiatives:

For many years, Dr. Shaikh has been a guiding force for youth, mentoring them in skill development, startup formation, business development, and accessing government schemes. His guidance has empowered many young professionals to succeed in competitive exams and entrepreneurial ventures.

As a social entrepreneur, Dr. Shaikh advises emerging educational institutions and the IT sector, focusing on innovation and capacity building. A motivational speaker and a result oriented leader, he inspires others to achieve excellence.

Global Outreach:

Dr. Shaikh’s international exposure includes visits to countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, China, Iran, Oman, UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia), Fiji, Kingdom of Tonga, Sri Lanka, and Nepal, reflecting his global perspective in education and leadership.
